The ReWritten Life: Jacob and Esau
Christina Brooks
This Sunday we will continue sermon series, The ReWritten Life. Join us as we take a look at Jacob and Esau. We get the name Israel from God renaming Jacob. God then refers to God’s self as “The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob”. Saying in essence, “If you want to know who I am look at my people”. Let’s come together (in person or online) and contemplate the heavy weight of that. Jacob seemed beyond transformation. He was selfish, conniving, manipulative and raised by his mother to be that way. He not only had personal life failures to overcome, he also had generational dysfunction. Why would God point to such a people? Why are these stories in the Bible? How do they apply to me? Can I have a new life? What does it mean to wrestle with God?
